Karela is well known for its bitter taste. It has a distinct warty looking exterior and a hollow interior with a few lining and seeds encapsulated inside. Karela is prepared in various ways in various households. Some cook it as a dry veg dish, some mix with other vegetables and many empty the shell of karela and stuff with a spiced masala. Regardless of its bitter and acquired taste, Karela is popular because of  its high nutritional value.
